LEICESTER are delighted to welcome Tom Spencer and Vinnie Foord back into their National Development League team for next season.
Both riders are highly popular members of the club’s NDL set-up having very much played their part in the Lion Cubs’ success over recent years.
23-year-old Spencer will be going into his fourth season with the Cubs, having overcome a serious arm injury in 2023 to post his highest-ever average at NDL level.
He ended the year with a 5.78 figure despite the accident at Workington which saw him miss four further matches, before a spectacular return with 10+2 from five rides at Berwick.
Foord, 17, was another rider to suffer an injury setback as he too missed four matches after suffering a broken wrist in a crash against Kent in late May.
But he was back posting impressive scores in the second half of the season, including a sensational win over Mildenhall No.1 Alfie Bowtell, and his energy and enthusiasm makes him a big part of the club.
He returns on a 3.81 average and with the overall reset taking place in the NDL for 2024, he could well prove to be one of the league’s major improvers.
Manager Dave Howard said: “Tom again will give his all for the Lion Cubs in 2024, and will hopefully get through the season without any arm injury like he suffered in 2023.
“Vinnie is back with the Lion Cubs again and will really be looking to progress further, and I’m sure he will move up the team in 2024. It’s great to have them back for next year.”
Spencer and Foord join captain Joe Thompson and new signing Arran Butcher in the line-up, with more signings to follow over the coming days.
